Security Forces Arrested 2 Engineers, a Lawyer and a Researcher working for ECRF

The The Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms (ECRF) calls for the immediate and unconditional release of its 4 detained staff, after they were arrested earlier by a police force from the Khosos police station, in Qalyubia governorate. Police forces arrested the 4 employees, while they were conducting a field visit of Zaraiyeb area in Khosos, in order to study the urban area and produce a participatory study for developing the region, before presenting it to the official institutions working on slums development.The police force arrested and detained Engineers Sherif Helal and Amr Abo Tawila, lawyer Maha Ahmed and researcher Mohamed Tharwat. Khosos police accused the team with unauthorized data collection and working for an unregistered NGO.
ECRF calls the immediate release of the team, and facilitating the work of groups working for economic development.
It is worth noting that ECRF has already applied for a foundation status under the name the Egyptian Movement for Rights and Freedoms to the Ministry of Social Solidarity in January 2015. As ECRF did not receive an official reply yet, ECRF is effectively legally recognized, in accordance with the NGO law no.84 for the year 2002.
